First Day August 28

8/21/2023

The first day of school for grades 1-8 will be August 28.  Please click here for the 2023-2024 KINDERGARTEN OPENING SCHEDULE.

ARRIVAL:

Our tardy bell rings at 8:25 a.m.  Students should not arrive prior to 8:00 a.m. unless they are attending the fee-based morning Latchkey before-school care program.  Students may report directly to classrooms beginning at 8:00 a.m.

Students in grades 1-8 will report to school at the normal time beginning on MONDAY, AUGUST 28.

Kindergarten students will report to school between 8:30 and 8:45 am for their first day of school on WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 30.  Parents/caregivers will walk students to meet their teachers near the main entrance adjacent to the parking lot.  Parents/caregivers will not be permitted to enter the building, but may say goodbye and give hugs in this outdoor area.  Kindergarten students need to be picked up at 12:00 pm on August 30 only.

Kindergarten students will report to school at the normal time and will remain for the full day beginning THURSDAY, AUGUST 31.

Upon entry into the building, all students will report directly to homeroom classrooms.

LATCHKEY:

Latchkey will be in session beginning on the first day, but please note that kindergarten  students attending school only until noon on August 30 must be picked up at that time.  Please click here for information about how to register for Latchkey and/or ask questions.  If your child attended Latchkey last year and is returning, please send a note on the first day of school indicating your child’s Latchkey schedule for the first week of school.  You will still need to complete the registration process.

HOT LUNCH:

Hot Lunch will be available beginning on the first day.  Online ordering for August and September closed August 10.  Ordering for October will be open September 1-10 in Digital Academy.  Milk will also be available on the first day for those who order it.  Those wishing to purchase milk must order it through the Hot Lunch ordering system in Digital Academy even if no lunches are being ordered.  Only those students who have ordered and paid for milk through this system will appear on the classroom milk report to receive milk at lunchtime.  All others must bring a drink from home.

DISMISSAL:

We will follow a staggered dismissal schedule as follows:

2:55 pm - Kindergarten students and their siblings

Non-Kindergarten Families Alphabetically by Last Name:

3:00 pm - Last names N-Z

3:05 pm - Last names A-M

Students will not be released until their designated time, so it is important that you make every effort to arrive as close to that time as possible, rather than lining up far in advance.  We also ask for your cooperation in picking up your child on time, or calling the office in advance if you will be a few minutes late.

If you prefer not to go through the car line, you may park in the far back parking lot and stand in the red “box” painted on the parking lot where you can safely reunite with your child.

Students should go directly to car or bus – no loitering in hallways, restrooms, visiting other rooms.

Students not picked up by 3:15 pm will be taken to our fee-based Latchkey aftercare program.

Afternoon Latchkey will be available until 6:00 pm

BUSING:

Four districts provide bus transportation for our students who reside in those districts: Copley-Fairlawn, Highland, Revere, and Woodridge.  As districts deal with driver shortages, there is the potential that bus transportation for St. Hilary School students who ride the affected district’s bus may be lost.  We encourage all families to have an alternate transportation plan in place as this could happen without warning. For more information, you may contact the transportation departments listed below:

Copley-Fairlawn:  330-664-4820
Highland:
330-239-1901, ext. 1235
Revere: 330-523-3118 or 3119
Woodridge 330-928-6312
